The primary initial cause of the war of 1812, were the economic sanctions placed on the United States by England and France. These sanctions crippled U.S. trade. The U.S., under Jefferson, retaliated with embargoes which eventually hurt the Americans far more than the British. The Americans first attack was Lower Canada.
The act guaranteed the rights of African Americans and made it illegal for others to infringe on those rights. Therefore the act established the rights of the freedmen and made it a crime to infringe on these rights. This is the first time in U.S. history that the rights of African Americans were officially established.
