The slope of a line on a graph is

               (change in 'y') divided by (change in 'x')

in the same direction along any piece of the line.

Look at either one of the triangles.  It doesn't matter which one.
You only need to use one of them to find the slope.

Bigger triangle:
change in 'y' = 2
change in 'x' = 6          slope = 2/6  =  1/3

Smaller triangle:
change in 'y' = 1
change in 'x' = 3          slope = 1/3

Easiest way:

Look at A and C. To get from A to C you need 6 steps to the right and 2 steps upwards.
Slope means (in layman's terms) that how many steps you take upwards when you take 1 step to the right.
In your case you take 2/6 steps, because it would take you 6 steps to the right to go 2 steps upwards.
A slope of 4 would mean that 1 step to the right is followed by 4 steps upwards. A slope of -5 means 1 step to the right, 5 steps downwards.

To get from A to E you need 9 steps to the right and 3 steps upwards. This means a 3/9 slope. The simplest form of it is 1/3.
1/3 slope means that for every 3 steps to the right you take 1 step upwards.

I hope this was understandable, this is how they taught me this in 5th grade more than a decade ago.

Find the value of x and the value of y.
fomenos

Answer:

C.

Step-by-step explanation:

x is bisecting the baseline (cutting it in 2 halves of 6).

the third angle in the main overall triangle is 60 degrees.

remember, all angles in a triangle always add up to 180 degrees.

so, 180 - 60 - 60 = 60.

that means that all 3 angles are of equal size (60). and that means that all 3 sides must have the same length.

=> y = 12

and now using Pythagoras to calculate the height (x) of the triangle :

y² = x² + 6² (remember, this side is only half the baseline)

12² = x² + 6²

144 = x² + 36

x² = 108

x = sqrt(108) = sqrt(36×3) = 6×sqrt(3)
