We want to get rid of the square root sign somehow, so let's isolate that term.

2\sqrt{\frac{3x}{5}} + 3 = 11
2\sqrt{\frac{3x}{5}} = 11 - 3 = 8
\sqrt{\frac{3x}{5}} = 4

Now, in order to 'undo' a root sign, we need to do the opposite to it, by squaring the term, but in order for it to remain the same, we need to square 4 as well.

\frac{3x}{5} = 16

Now, we can isolate the variable:
3x = 5 \cdot 16 = 80
x = \frac{80}{3}, and since we can't simplify this further, our final answer becomes:

x = \frac{80}{3} or x = 26\frac{2}{3}

A sequence is defined recursively by the following rules: f(1)=3f(n+1)=2⋅f(n)−1 Which of the following statements is true about
Radda [10]

Answer:

f(2)=5

f(5)=33

Step-by-step explanation:

The given formula, that recursively defines the sequence is

f(1) = 3 \\ f(n + 1) = 2f(n) - 1

When n=1, we obtain;

f(1+ 1) = 2f(1) - 1 \\ f(2) = 2 \times 3 - 1 \\ f(2) = 6 - 1 \\ f(2) = 5

When n=2, we get:

f(2+ 1) = 2f(2) - 1 \\ f(3) = 2 \times 5 - 1 \\ f(3) = 10 - 1 \\ f(3) = 9

When n=3,

f(3 + 1) = 2f(3) - 1 \\ f(4) = 2f(3) - 1 \\ f(4) = 2 \times 9 - 1 \\ f(4) = 18 - 1 \\ f(4) = 17

When n=4

f(4 + 1) = 2 f(4) - 1 \\ f(5) = 2 \times 17 - 1 \\ f(5) = 34 - 1 \\ f(5) = 33

When n=5,

f(6) = 65

Geraldine has 8 cups of sugar. She uses 6 3/5 cups to make a large cake. How many cups of sugar does she have left?
Inga [223]

Answer:

1\frac{2}{5}

Step-by-step explanation:

remaining cups = total cups - used caps

let remaining cups be = x

     total cups = y = 8

      used cups = z= 6\frac{3}{5}

Hence x = y-z

x = 8 - 6\frac{3}{5}

  = \frac{8}{1}  - \frac{33}{5}  = \frac{40-33}{5} = \frac{7}{5} = 1\frac{2}{5}

x= 1\frac{2}{5}

Remaining cups = 1\frac{2}{5}
