Col Tibbets was the American pilot who dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan in 1945. Later, he told an interviewer that he supported the decision to drop the bomb and that he "never lost sleep over it."  For TIbbets, dropping the bomb on Japan was a way of shortening the duration of the war and saving the possible millions of lives - both Japanese and American- that would have been lost if the U.S. invaded Japan,

Through this program, the US was able to provide Allied powers (like France, Britain, and China) with war materials in order to increase their chances of success in World War II. Even though this policy helped favored the Allied powers, it still helped America to remain "neutral" at the beginning of World War II. This was because this deal involved no soldiers or US servicemen being involved in the fighting. Rather, we were just providing the weapons/technology needed to other countries.
