During WWII, George C. Marshall served as chief of staff of the US army from September 1, 1939 until November 18, 1945.

During his tenure he helped train US soldiers in modern warfare as an instructor at the Army War College in Pennsylvania.

He inherited an outdated and poorly equiped army, so he was also responsible for the modernization of the army and co-ordinated a large scale expansion of the military.

While Marshal wrote the document that would become the central strategy for Allied operations in Europe, Dwight Eisenhower would become the Supreme Commander of Operation Overlord.

Many were the military contributions of George C. Marshall during the World War II:

 • He was chief of staff of the United States Army.
 • He helped train US soldiers and airmen in modern warfare.
 • He used and helped advance modern weaponry.

Marshall did NOT lead British and French Allied forces since Roosevelt thought his planning and diplomacy skills were more needed in the USA. And, he did NOT reduce the size of the US military. In fact, under George Marshall's direction, the U.S forces expanded from 200,000 to 8,300,000 officers and men.

The case of McCulloch vs Maryland was one of the most interesting and a land marking case in the United States of America. This case change the federal power of the government. The McCulloch vs Maryland case dated back to 1819.

The decision of this case given by the US Supreme Court limited the legislative powers of the US Congress and it scoped its powers to the State Legislature.
