Where do the catabolic products of fatty acid breakdown enter into the citric acid cycle?
bezimeni [28]

Answer:

acetyl CoA

Explanation:

The break down of free fatty acid or fatty acid degradation is the process in which fatty acids are broken down into their basic metabolites. The process of degradation includes three steps:

1. Lipolysis of fat stores of and release of free fatty acids from adipose tissue

2. Process of activation and transport into mitochondria catalyzed by the enzyme fatty acyl-CoA synthetase.

3. β-oxidation-formation of final product - acetyl-CoA which is the entry molecule for the citric acid cycle.

Meiosis is sometimes called reduction division. what does this mean and why is it important
vaieri [72.5K]
Meiosis is a kind of cell division. It will lead to 4 daughter cells which each has only half of their chromosomes comparing to the parent. The end product has less chromosomes than the original that's why it's called reduction division.

Meiosis is important because the products are usually seen in gametes, which is sperms and eggs. If they get fertilized, they will form a zygote, and this is reproduction. Meiosis makes sure that the zygote has the right number of chromosomes, like half and half equals the correct amount chromosomes the organism should have. This also leads to diversity which is very important and a must in sexual reproduction.

How do phagocytic white blood cells help your body stay healthy?
muminat

These cells consume bacteria and other pathogens to protect the body from infection. The process begins when chemicals from a pathogen, or damaged tissue, attract a phagocyte. The phagocyte binds to the microbe, envelopes it, and then eats it.
