The labor strikes of 1919 were mainly caused by the difficult working conditions in the steel industry and low wages. Workers had to face long hours of work in bad working conditions.
Workers went into strike to ask for better wages since it was not enough to cover their families basic needs. One of the biggest strikes is called the Great Steel Strike of 1919 when more than 350 thousand workers were involved.
