Peter's Pencils is a perfectly competitive company producing pencils. Suppose Peter is producing 1,000 pencils an hour. If the t

otal cost of 1,000 pencils is $500, the market price per pencil is $2, and the marginal cost is $2, then Peter is not maximizing his profit but is making zero economic profit anyway. is maximizing his profit and is making an economic profit. makes an economic profit because marginal revenue is equal to marginal cost at this output level. should increase his output to increase his profit. should decrease his output to increase his profit.

Answer:

Peter is maximizing his profit and is making an economic profit.

Explanation:

Peter's Pencils is a pencil producing firm in a perfectly competitive firm.

It produces 1,000 pencils an hour.

The total cost of producing 1,000 pencils is $500.

The market price of each pencil is $2.

The marginal cost of producing the last unit of a pencil at this point is $2.

An individual firm in a perfectly competitive market faces a horizontal line demand curve which also represents the average revenue and marginal revenue.

This means that the marginal revenue earned from the 1,000th pencil is $2.

The marginal revenue is equal to marginal cost, this implies that the firm is maximizing profits.

The average total cost of the firm is

= \frac{TC}{Q}

= \frac{500}{1,000}

= $0.5

The average total cost is $0.5 which is lower than the price. This means that the firm is earning economic profits.

Answer:

D. Logical fallacies are unethical because they use logic to emphasize falsehood.

Explanation:

A logical fallacy is reasoning or error of argument which is logically incorrect and renders the validity of an argument invalid.

There are types of logical fallacies such as Ad Hominem, Straw man, etc.

Logical fallacies are easily identified because they usually lack evidence to support their claim.

When something is said to be unethical, it means that it is morally wrong.

Therefore, the false statement from the list is that logical fallacies are unethical because they use logic to emphasize falsehood.

Consider a production possibilities frontier (PPF) with good X on the horizontal axis and good Y on the vertical axis. The PPF i
Ahat [919]

Answer:

C

Explanation:

The Production possibilities frontiers is a curve that shows the various combination of two goods a company can produce when all its resources are fully utilised.

As more quantities of a product is produced, the fewer resources it has available to produce another good. As a result, less of the other product would be produced. So, the opportunity cost of producing a good increase as more and more of that good is produced.

If the PPF is a straight line, it means there is a constant opportunity cost no matter the point one is on the curve

The arguments for restricting trade Suppose there is a policy debate regarding the United States’ imposing trade restrictions on
Ilya [14]

Answer:

Infant-industry argument

Explanation:

Infant-industry argument says that a particular industry can't compete with other international competitors because of the economies of scale. So, they demand a temporary protection until they gain economies of scale to be ready to compete on a level playing field.

Note: This can also come in the category of 'unfair competition' argument as huge economies of scales of well established companies create an unfair environment for nascent industries to compete on a same level.
