How did mercantilism help the Europeans?

History

Mercantilism greatly helped the Europeans by constantly bringing in more money and new resources. Great Britain relied very much on the American colonists for a lot of trade. They even passed laws like the Navigation Acts and the Acts of Trade so the British made sure they got they needed from the American colonies and nobody else. Very popular items like tobacco, indigo, furs, sugar, etc, were things the colonists could only send to Britain because of rules.
