My first day of college was a disaster. First, I went to the wrong classroom for math. I was sitting in the class, surrounded by

people taking notes and paying attention to how to do equations, which would have been okay if I was supposed to be in an algebra class. In reality, I was supposed to be in geometry, and when I discovered my error, I had already missed the first twenty minutes of a one-hour class. When I got to the correct class, all twenty-five students turned and looked at me as the teacher said,
“You’re late.” That would have been bad enough, but in my next class my history teacher spoke so fast I could not follow most of what he said. The only thing I did hear was that we were having a quiz tomorrow over today’s lecture. My day seemed to be going better during botany class, that is, until we visited the lab. I had a sneezing fit because of one of the plants in the lab and had to leave the room. When I finally finished my classes for the day, I discovered I had locked my keys in the car and had to wait for my brother to bring another set. My first day of school was so bad that I know the rest will have to be better.

Marianna [84]

4. Epiphora

B

1. To get ahead, a person needs to have good goals, study hard and plan well for the future.

2. The professor needs to either publish more books or work with his students.

3. She is having good days, bad days, long days and short days.

4. Hike the Appalachian Trail is exploring the Panama Canal and the Mississippi ford.

Explanation:

I have been able to show the four rhetorical devices used in the given passage.

Parallelism is the use of a particular grammatical structure in a sentence. We see it in the line: "We all should have our say in the political leaders we elect: the young student and the old retiree; the struggling worker and the wealthy businessman."

Anaphora is the rhetorical device that repeats a word or phrase in a sentence at the beginning of successive classes.

It is seen in the line: "It is a privilege, it is a right, it is a duty."

Alliteration is the rhetorical device that repeats the same letter or sound at the beginning of words that adjacent or closely connected.

It is seen in the line: "You must vote! If you love your country, you must vote. If you believe that your country can be better, you must vote."

Epiphora is the rhetorical device that repeats a word or phrase at the end of successive clauses.

It is seen in the line: "You must vote! If you love your country, you must vote. If you believe that your country can be better, you must vote."

One element of lyric poetry is personal reflection. Which lines in this poem most clearly illustrate that element?
NeX [460]

Answer:

"I wandered lonely as a cloud " is the line that refkects personal reflection.

Explanation:

When a poem reflects or expresses the careful thoughts, behavior and beliefs of the person, they are self-reflection poems. They express real emotions of the author. In the poem "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud " by "William Wordsworth", he uses the following line which shows personal reflection:

I wandered lonely as a cloud

In this line the poet describes himself as lonely who is wandering around. Cloud is usually up in the sky moving around without anyone around it. Similarly, speaker is using a metaphor to describe speaker who is lonely and wandering, moving without purpose and no direction.

What are some of the ways you think Gatsby failed to accomplish his dreams?
pickupchik [31]
It's been a while. I'm assuming the girl is Lucy

Gatsby by had always wanted wealth and had possibly resorted to underhand means to achieve it.
Yet he would never be able to achieve old money, the type of wealth and fame accumulated over the years, and the same type that was cheated from him by the dead captain's relatives.
Gatsby also failed to get together with Lucy, the love of his life. He bought a mansion right across from her's and held parties hoping that Lucy might attend one of them. Yet he could never get together with her. Lucy still chose to stay with Tom, and Gatsby was fatally shot by Wilson before he could try again.

So. Old money. Love.
