In the chapter, Billie Jo learnt to forgive her father and forgive herself and come out of the guilt that she thought that she had killed her mother and her brother. Also winning the third prize in the piano playing competition makes her very happy.

<u>Explanation:</u>

In the lesson, Out of the dust, Billie Jo is the protagonist. She was in the guilt that she had killed her mother and her brother by spilling the kerosene oil on them by mistake. But by the end of the story, when she had learnt to forgive herself and also her father is an accomplishment for her.

Also when she took part in a piano playing competition where she played the piano her heart out, she won the third prize. That is also an accomplishment for her because she could not play her mother's piano because of the guilt that she had and she felt like crippled. But when she played, she won the third prize and was very happy.
