Julie studied for 3 1 3 hours during the 4 days before her last math test. If she studied for the same amount of time each day, how much time did she spend studying each day?

Solution:

Julie studied for 3 \frac{1}{3} hrs in 4 days

Let us first find how many minutes Julie studied in 4 days

In 1 hour, there are 60 minutes

Julie studied for 3 complete hours and one-third of the hour.

So, Number of minutes in 3 hours is 3*60=180hrs

and, Number of minutes in one-third of an hour=\frac{1}{3} *60

=\frac{60}{3}=20minutes

So, time spent by Julie in studying in 4 days is 3\frac{1}{3} hours

or, Julie studied for 180+20 minutes in 4 days

Adding 180 and 20

Julie studied for 200 minutes during the 4 days

To find time she spend studying each day, we must divide total time spent in studies by number of days

Time she spend studying each day= \frac{200}{4} minutes

Dividing 200 by 4, we get

Time she spend studying each day=50 minutes

Answer:

time she spend studying each day=50 minutes

Lucy spends 4 hours a week babysitting. Her sister Lily spends seven eighths as much time babysitting. Does Lily babysit for mor
olganol [36]

Answer:

Lily babysit for <u>less than 4 hours</u>.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Lucy spends in a week babysitting for 4 hours.

Lily spends seven-eighths of 4 hours.

Now, to find whether Lily babysit for more than 4 hours or less than that.

Number of hours Lucy babysit = 4 hours.

So, to get the hours Lily babysit:

\frac{7}{8}\ of\ 4\ hours.

=\frac{7}{8}\times 4\\\\=\frac{28}{8} \\\\

<em>On simplifying we get:</em>

=\frac{7}{2} \\\\=3\frac{1}{2}\ hours.

<u><em>Thus, Lily spends </em></u>3\frac{1}{2}\ hours<u><em>  for babysitting which is less than 4 hours.</em></u>

Therefore, Lily babysit for less than 4 hours.

Answer:

  • The measure of ∠A is 66°.

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>We know that:</u>

  • ∠A = 3x + 18
  • ∠D = 4x + 2
  • ∠D = ∠A

<u>Now, let's solve the equation. ∠D = ∠A.</u>

  • => 3x + 18 = 4x + 2
  • => -2 + 18 = x
  • => 16 = x

<u>Now, let's substitute the value of x into any equation.</u>

  • => 4x + 2
  • => 4(16) + 2
  • => <u>66°</u>

Hence, the measure of ∠A is 66°.
