Y = -2x -1 and x = -2

Simply plug in -2 for x in our given equation :)

y = -2(-2) - 1

Simplify.

y = 4 - 1

Simplify.

So, y =3

x = -2, y = 3

To check our work, simply plug -2 in for x, and 3 in for y.

y = -2x - 1

(3) = -2(-2) - 1

Simplify.

3 = 4 - 1

3 = 3

Therefore, x = -2, y = 3

~Hope I helped!~

QveST [7]

Answer:

D, E, C, A, and B.

Step-by-step explanation:

We wish to solve the equation:

2(x-3)+7-3x=11

Let’s go through this step-by-step.

1) Distributive Property:

2x-6+7-3x=11

2) Commutative Property of Addition (we rearrange them):

2x-3x-6+7=11

3) Combined Like Terms:

-x+1=11

4) Addition Property of Equality* (we add <em>-1</em> to both sides):

-x=10

5) Multiplication Property of Equality (we multiply both sides by -1):

x=-10

So, our sequence is:

D, E, C, A, and B.

*A better choice would’ve been the Subtraction Property of Equality, but both are equally fine.

Find the length of the line segment shown. Round your answer to the nearest tenth.
Marina86 [1]

Answer:

d=10

Step-by-step explanation:

Distance Formula: d=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}

Step 1: Define endpoint coordinates

(2, 5)

(-6, -1)

Step 2: Substitute and Evaluate

d=\sqrt{(-6-2)^2+(-1-5)^2}

d=\sqrt{(-8)^2+(-6)^2}

d=\sqrt{64+36}

d=\sqrt{100}

d=10

A supervisor records the repair cost for 25 randomly selected dryers. A sample mean of $93.36 and standard deviation of $19.95 a
Feliz [49]

Answer:

The 98% confidence interval for the mean repair cost for the dryers is (83.4161, 103.3039).

Step-by-step explanation:

We have a small sample size n = 25, \bar{x} = 93.36 and s = 19.95. The confidence interval is given by  \bar{x}\pm t_{\alpha/2}(\frac{s}{\sqrt{n}}) where t_{\alpha/2} is the \alpha/2th quantile of the t distribution with n - 1 = 25 - 1 = 24 degrees of freedom. As we want the 98% confidence interval, we have that \alpha = 0.02 and the confidence interval is 93.36\pm t_{0.01}(\frac{19.95}{\sqrt{25}}) where t_{0.01} is the 1st quantile of the t distribution with 24 df, i.e., t_{0.01} = -2.4922. Then, we have 93.36\pm (-2.4922)(\frac{19.95}{\sqrt{25}}) and the 98% confidence interval is given by (83.4161, 103.3039).
