X=70, y=55

The triangle is an isosceles triangles. In an isosceles triangle, the base angles are congruent.

Then use the triangle angle sum theorem and set the equation to 180.

55+55+x=180
110+x=180
x=70

The angle with 55 degrees and the angle with the variable y are alternate angles. Meaning they are congruent.

If three quarters of a number decreased by twenty is equal to eighty two, what is that number?
Studentka2010 [4]

A number is :

x

_________________________________

Three quarters of it means :

\frac{3}{4}x \\

_________________________________

Decrease by 20 means :

\frac{3}{4}x - 20 \\

_________________________________

Equals to 82 means :

\frac{3}{4}x - 20 = 82 \\

_________________________________

What is that number ?

x asked so we must solve the above equation for x.

Let's do it....

\frac{3}{4}x - 20 = 82 \\

Plus sides 20

\frac{3}{4}x = 82 + 20 \\

\frac{3}{4}x = 102 \\

Multiply sides by 4

3x = 102 \times 4

Divided sides by 3

x =  \frac{102 \times 4}{3} \\

x =  \frac{102}{3} \times 4 \\

Simplify

x = 34 \times 4

x = 136

So that number is 136 .

Given triangle ABC, A=105°, a=10cm, b=7cm, find B,C and c.
Whitepunk [10]

The value of the side c will be 5.56 cm and angle C is 32.49° and angle B is 42.51°.

<h3>What is law of cosine?</h3>

Let there is a triangle ABC such that |AB| = a units, |AC| = b units, and |BC| = c units and the internal angle A is of θ degrees, then we have:

a² + b² – 2ab cos C = c²

Given triangle ABC, A = 105°, a = 10 cm, b = 7 cm.

Then we have

7² + c² – (2 · 7 · c) cos 105° = 10²

c² + 3.62c – 51 = 0

On solving, we have

c = 5.56

Then the angle C will be

10² + 7² – 2 · 7 · 10 · cos C = 5.56²

                149 – 140 cos C = 30.91

                                 cos C = 0.8435

                                        C = 32.49°

We know that

       ∠A + ∠B + ∠C = 180°

105° + ∠B + 32.49° = 180°

                         ∠B = 42.51°
