The Alamo was originally a home for Spanish Missionaries (Mission San Antonio de Valero), however, over time it was turned into a fort for soldiers.

The Bay of Pigs was a disaster of a mission and it hurt badly the reputation of the United States. This was an organized attacked on Cuba sponsored and organized by the CIA. The CIA managed to recruit lot of Cubans that fled Cuba after Castro came to power, trained them, gave them weapons, and organized them. These troops were sent from Central America. Once they landed in Cuba, the Cuban forces led by Fidel Castro started to annihilate them, and it took them only three days to totally defeat them, making a fool of CIA in the eyes of the other nations.
