5. The Galapagos region is composed of numerous islands. Finches went to every island, so the groups were separated from each other. Each group evolved individually because of the environmental conditions. The finches gradually adapted to their environment, which all differed. Naturally, the separation of the groups caused differences after a while.
6. Survival of the fittest is part of Darwin’s theory. Organisms don’t just randomly develop traits in their lifetime if they need it. That was lamarcks theory. And that’s wrong. What actually happens is organisms that aren’t fit for their environment die off, so the ones that are fit survive and can reproduce and pass on their fit traits to future generations. An example would be the giraffes. If there’s a short giraffe, it will die because it can’t reach tall trees. It can’t pass on its shortness because well it’s dead. The tall giraffe will live and pass on its height.
