Alfred is practicing typing. The first time he tested himself, he could type 30 words per minute. After practicing for a week, h

e could type 33 words per minute. After two weeks he could type 36 words per minute. Based on this pattern, predict how fast Alfred will be able to type after four weeks of practice.

Answer:

42 words per minute

Step-by-step explanation:

Weeks(x)          Words per minute(y)

0                              30

1                               33

2                              36

To find the function we will use two point slope form.

y-y_1=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}(x-x_1)   ---A

(x_1,y_1)=(0,30)

(x_2,y_2)=(1,33)

Substitute the value in A

y-30=\frac{33-30}{1-0}(x-0)

y-30=3x

y=3x+30

Thus the equation represents the situation : y=3x+30

Where y is the words per minute

x is the number of weeks

Now we are supposed to find how fast Alfred will be able to type after four weeks of practice.

Substitute x = 4

y=3(4)+30

y=42

Hence Alfred will be able to type 42 words per minute after four weeks of practice.

It would be 42 ,because it is increasing by 3 on the third week=39 fourth week=42.

F(x) = 4x2 + 1 and g(x) = x2 - 5, find (f+ g)(x)
inn [45]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

(f + g)x translates into a more readable f(x) + g(x) so all you do is

f(x) + g(x) = 4x^2 + 1 + x^2 - 5

f(x) + g(x) = 5x^2 - 4

At 3pm, the length of the shadow of a thin vertical pole standing on level ground is the same as the height of the pole. A while
aliya0001 [1]

Answer: The height of the pole is 175.97 ( approx )

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the height of the pole is x cm,

Also, let the angle of elevation of the sun to the pole at 3 pm is \theta

Thus, by the question,

tan\theta = \frac{\text{ The height of the pole}}{\text{ The height of the shadow}}

\implies tan\theta = \frac{x}{x}    ( at 3pm the height of shadow = height of the pole)

\implies tan\theta = 1

\implies \theta = 45^{\circ}

Again, according to the question,

When the angle of elevation is   (\theta - 12^{\circ}),

The height of shadow = x + 95,

\implies tan(45-12)^{\circ}=\frac{x}{x+95}

\implies tan 33^{\circ}=\frac{x}{x+95}

\implies tan 33^{\circ}x + 95\times tan33^{\circ}=x

\implies tan 33^{\circ}x - x = - 95\times tan33^{\circ}

\implies -0.3505924068 x = - 61.6937213538

x=175.969930202\approx 175.97\text{ cm}

Why is ac smaller than ad if they both look very close
kakasveta [241]

Let's begin by listing out the information given to us:

We start out by observing that Triangles MKR & ACD are similar or proportional

\begin{gathered} MK=21;AC=\text{?} \\ MR=24;AD=28\frac{4}{5} \\ KR=CD=\text{?} \end{gathered}

We will solve for the missing side by using the similar triangle theorem. This is shown below:~

\begin{gathered} \Delta MKR\approx\Delta ACD \\ \frac{MK}{AC}=\frac{MR}{AD} \\ \frac{21}{AC}=\frac{24}{28\frac{4}{5}} \\ \text{Cross multiply, we have:} \\ 24\cdot AC=28\frac{4}{5}\cdot21 \\ AC=\frac{28\frac{4}{5}\cdot21}{24}=25\frac{1}{5} \\ AC=25\frac{1}{5} \end{gathered}
