(4x +  3y)² = (4x + 3y)(4x + 3y)

(4x + 3y)(4x + 3y) = 4x(4x + 3y) + 3y(4x + 3y)

4x*4x + 4x*3y + 3y*4x + 3y*3y

16x² + 12xy + 12xy + 9y²

16x² + 24xy + 9y²

Therefore (4x +  3y)² = 16x² + 24xy + 9y²

I hope this helps.

What is the equation, in point-slope form, for a line that goes through (8,-4) and has a slope of -5/6?
strojnjashka [21]

The point-slope form:

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

We have the point (8, -4) and the slope m = -5/6. Substitute:

y-(-4)=-\dfrac{5}{6}(x-8)\\\\\boxed{y+4=-\dfrac{5}{6}(x-8)}

[Right Triangles Only] Pythagorean Theorem: a² + b² = c²

  • a is a leg
  • b is another leg
  • c is the hypotenuse<u> </u>

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Step 1: Define</u>

<em>Identify variables</em>

<em>a</em> = 12 cm

<em>c</em> = 17 cm

<u>Step 2: Solve for </u><em><u>b</u></em>

  1. Substitute in variables [Pythagorean Theorem]:                                            12² + b² = 17²
  2. Evaluate exponents:                                                                                         144 + b² = 289
  3. [Subtraction Property of Equality] Subtract 144 on both sides:                     b² = 145
  4. [Equality Property] Square root both sides:                                                      b = √145
  5. [√Radical] Evaluate:                                                                                         b = 12.0416
  6. Round:                                                                                                               b ≈ 12.0
