Answer:

2017 - $2,540

2018 - $10,160

Explanation:

The computation of the depreciation expense under the Straight-line method is shown below:

= (Original cost - residual value) ÷ (useful life)

= ($77,980 - $6,860) ÷ (7 years)

= ($71,120) ÷ (7 years)

= $10,160

In this method, the depreciation is same for all the remaining useful life.

So, For the year 2017, the depreciation expense would be charged on 3 months i.e from October 1 to December 31

= $10,160 × 3 months ÷ 12 months

= $2,540

So, For the year 2018, the depreciation expense is $10,160

kodGreya [7K]

Answer and Explanation:

(a)

Dr Land ($176 X $20,000) $3,520,000

Cr Treasury Stock ($153 X $20,000) $3,060,000

Cr Paid-in Capital from Treasury Stock $460,000

b)

Cost of treasury stock might be used although , this is not a relevant measure of this economic event but it is a measure of a prior, unrelated event. Therefore the appraised value of the land is a reasonable alternative if based on appropriate fair value estimation techniques. However, it is an appraisal as opposed to a market-determined price. The trading price of the stock is probably the best measure of fair value in this type of transaction.

artcher [175]

Answer:

$29.71

Explanation:

Value of Stock can be determine by Dividend Valuation method.

Dividend Valuation method is used to value the stock price of a company based on the dividend paid, its growth rate and rate of return. The price is determined by calculating present value of future dividend payment.

In this question the Dividend payment is $2, growth rate is 4% and required rate of return is 11%.

Formula for Valuation:

Value of Share = Dividend (1 + g) / (Rate of return - Growth rate)

Value of Share = $2.00 (1 + 4%) / (11% - 4%)

Value of Share = $2.00 (1.04) / 7%

Value of Share = $29.71

borishaifa [10]

Answer:

b. $ 14,000

Explanation:

In the cash section of balance sheet, it includes cash on hand, cash in check accounts and normal deposit with term lower than 3 months.

Thus in this case, the cash should be reported in the statement = Cash in Bank - checking account of $13,500 + Cash on hand of $500 = $14,000

Post-dated checks received totaling $3,500 is a check on which the issuer has stated a date later than the current date, so it is not reported in current position

Certificates of deposit totaling$124,000 is reported in investment (short term or long term subject to the tenor of deposit)
