Sclera refers to the white, outer layer of the eyeball. It is tough, fibrous membrane which helps to maintain the spherical shape of the eyeball. It is a protective tissue.

Further Explanation

The sclera form white part of eye and also surrounds the cornea. The sclera forms over 80% of the eyeball surface area. It coverage extends from the cornea to the optic nerves and exits the back of the eye.

Sclera can also be defined as the connective tissue of the eyeball. The thickness of sclera ranges from 0.3 millimeter to 1.0mm. It is made up of small fibers of collagen, which are organized in interlacing and irregular bundle.

There is a limited blood supply into the sclera and it is relatively inactive metabolically. Although there are blood vessels that pass through sclera to other tissues but the sclera lacks blood vessels and it is considered avascular.

Functions of sclera

 • The sclera as well as the intraocular pressure of the eye helps in maintains the shape of the eye.
 • The sclera is tough and fibrous in nature, and also protects the eye from any damage. It protects damages such as rupture or laceration from external trauma.
 • The sclera provides attachment for extraocular muscles, which control the eye’s movement.

alisha [4.7K]

The correct answer is hydrocephalus.

Hydrocephalus refers to the condition in which the accumulation of fluid takes place in the ventricles (cavities) deep inside the brain. The excess fluid enhances the size of the ventricles and applies pressure on the brain. The cerebrospinal fluid usually flows via the ventricles and bathes the spinal column and the brain.

I need an hypothisis on How does temperature change affect surface tension?
Dafna1 [17]

Hypothesis: I believe an increase in temperature would lead to a decrease in surface tension.

Here's why: As the temperature increases, the molecular interaction between the liquids molecules becomes weaker because the hydrogen bond is the main factor for association between two molecules. It is a very weak bond to begin with, so when the temperature increases, it just further weakens it.
