I think maturity is not dependent on age.

I think the life choices and experiences you go through all affect your maturity. It all depends on what you've been through, some young people can through a lot and it can substitute what an adult has been through. It never depends on the age, just your experience or what you have been taught.

Ksenya-84 [330]

These metaphors emphasize the contrast between Janie's dream and real life.

What does the metaphor "stump in the middle of the woods" mean?

This metaphor is used to refer to Logan's house to show the house is located in a very remote place and this house compares to a "stump" which means it is not particularly beautiful or nice.

What does the metaphor "blossoming pear tree in the back yard" mean?

This metaphor indirectly refers to a very fancy or nice house that because it is a fancy house has a beautiful pear tree.

How do these metaphors work together?

These two metaphors work together to contrast Janie's dream about a specific house and a specific life after marrying versus the real-life and house.

Which sentence uses an objective case pronoun as an indirect object?
tamaranim1 [39]

Which sentence uses an objective case pronoun as an indirect object?

I sent him an attachment that included photos of the picnic.

The indirect object him identifies to whom the action of the verb sent is performed.

Wrong options:

I e-mailed him yesterday.

(The direct object him is the receiver of action within this sentence: I emailed him).

He wrote back to Bob and I with an answer to our questions.

(I is not an objective case pronoun; it should be "He wrote back to Bob and me...")

So, once again, the answer is the 2nd sentence (I sent him an attachment that included photos of the picnic.)
