What is the relationship among genes, chromosomes, and DNA?
horsena [70]
Chromosomes makes up genes while genes and chromosomes make up the entirety of DNA. A living organism inherits 46 chromosomes, 23 from each parent. These chromosomes are not genes but they form genes, which are just the traits of an individual that are unique. DNA is the entire make up of an organism that controls everything about a person such as likelihood to have disease or their physical appearance.

What happens next after the ribosome reaches the start codon?
iris [78.8K]

RNA molecules attach to codons when the ribosome reaches the start codon.

Explanation:

The start codon initiates translation of the mRNA by the ribosome into a polypeptide. When the ribosome finds the start codon, it attaches to the mRNA and the first amino acid, methionine, is recruited. The ribosome then continues translating the rest of the mRNA until it encounters a stop codon that initiates the ‘knocking off of the ribosome from the mRNA.
