As I sit there, making no effort to struggle, I know I have done something wrong so I don't even whine. This is the first time I have ever failed. I have given valid reason to drive Hal into rage. He trades the wip for the club. I know i deserve this just like all my friends that have gotten this before me so I don't even try to dodge the club as it swings down at the speed of light with an impeccable force along with it. I barely have any strength left in me to get up but then I have an unexplainable sensation of doom that tells me I have to keep fighting. The pain and treachery I have suffered through all day pushes me to fight to try and stay alive. I remember the feeling of the thin freezing cold frozen water under my feet all day. It seemed that I sensed that disaster is close at hand as I lay there and think. All of a sudden, I feel the pain rush back to me along with the horrifying feeling of all the pain I have taken on throughout the day. As the blows fall upon me I feel the spark of life flicker away. I could feel the warm rays from heaven as the life left my body when all of a sudden John Thorton sprang upon the man who wielded the club.
