multiply numerator by denominator to get rid of fraction:

12x + 16 - 4

now you move the 12x over to the other side of the equation so that we have all the x's together.

16 - 4 = 3x-12x

now you solve it:

12 = -9x

12/-9 = x

x= negative 4/3
