Denby persuaded it to transfer the control. It was then transferred to the Harry F. Dohney of Sinclair Oil Corporation.

Both the lease were issued without any proper bidding and was legalized under the Mineral Leasing Act of 1920.hading received a total amount of 5.67 million bribe in November 1921 from both Doheny and Sinclair for this favor.
