But, alas! a few days wore it all off: and, in short, to prevent any of my father's further importunities, in a few weeks after I resolved to run quite away from him. Answer: A. People sometimes contribute to their own misfortunes.

In this excerpt, we are introduced to Crusoe's father. Crusoe explains that his father warned him about a life of wandering, and instead advised him to stay put. Although Crusoe decided to follow his advice, very soon he realized he could not fight his curious nature, and decided to go abroad. This shows that Crusoe contributed to his own misfortune by not listening to his father's advice.

What is the purpose of a political party’s platform? A. to persuade voters that the party cares about them B. to state the goals
Zolol [24]
The answer is B.

A is incorrect because, while a large goal of a political party is to persuade voters, the platform itself is not to show that they care about the voters.
C is incorrect because, again, while this may be a goal of a political party, the platform itself is not used to enforce an ideology.
D is incorrect, because a political party's platform does not always align with the voters' ideals.
