B. Because he want to get political power, McCarthy lying that he has a list of suspect people of communism, but he never ever has any evidence against them. And those people are losing job reputation and just because of him, finally he was getting into jail when he across  the line, he accuse the respected member of the US Army was a communist and finally throw to jail, this period we call McCarthyism .
