Area of the shaded region is 41 square feet and area of the unshaded region if 87 square feet.

First I found the area of the big rectangle which was 128 ft^2 (16x8)

Then I turned the shaded area into a trapezoid by extending the bottom right corner of the region and I calculated its area which was 45 ft^2 ((6+3)x10)/2).

Then I calculated the area I added to the bottom right of the shaded region to turn it into a trapezoid which was 4 ft^2 (2x2)

After that, subtracted the unshaded area at the bottom right from the trapezoid area which gave me the area of the shaded area: 41 ft^2 (45 - 4)

Finally I subtracted the area of the shaded region from the area of the rectangle to find the area of the unshaded region which is 87 ft^2 (128 - 41)

Triangle PQR is dilated by a scale factor of 1.5 to form triangle P′Q′R′. This triangle is then dilated by a scale factor of 2 t
faust18 [17]

Answer:

Answer:  The correct option is (D) P″(9, -12) and Q″(15, -3).

Step-by-step explanation:  Given that triangle PQR is dilated by a scale factor of 1.5 to form triangle P′Q′R′. This triangle is then dilated by a scale factor of 2 to form triangle P″Q″R″.

The co-ordinates of vertices P and Q are (3, -4) and (5, -1) respectively.

We are to find the co-ordinates of the vertices P″ and Q″.

Case I :  ΔPQR dilated to ΔP'Q'R'

The co-ordinates of P' and Q' are given by

Case II :  ΔP'Q'R' dilated to ΔP''Q''R''

The co-ordinates of P'' and Q'' are given by

Thus, the co-ordinates of the vertices P'' and Q'' are (9, -12) and (15, -3).

Option (D) is CORRECT.
