The most likely theme for a science fiction story written by a British author in 1898 is world domination.

What is science fiction?

Science fiction is a literary genre that is characterized by narrating stories in which fictional facts related to other planets, nuclear weapons, wars, invasions, high technology, among others, stand out.

According to the above, it can be inferred that a British author can interpret his reality of 1898 to be inspired by a science fiction story focused on world domination through high-tech tools.

Week 2 Exercise Exercise 3-1, p. 42 Underline the topic sentence in the following paragraph and cross out any material that does
IrinaK [193]

1. The topic sentence in the passage is underlined as follows: "Quilt making has ... expression for women."

 • The topic sentence discusses the role of quilt making in enabling women to self-express themselves.

2. The material that does not clarify or develop the central idea is: "They used dyed cotton fabrics ...; surprisingly, ... years."

 • This statement has no relevance to the topic sentence. It digresses from the main topic to discuss the materials used for quilting instead of concentrating on the social, political, and artistic significance that quilting generates for women, as captured in the topic sentence.

Thus, the topic sentence captures the main idea of the passage. Other sentences help to develop and support the main idea.

What are the 6 partial causes of WWII
Zolol [24]

Answer:

The Treaty of Versailles ended World War I between Germany and the Allied Powers. Because Germany had lost the war, the treaty was very harsh against Germany. Germany was forced to "accept the responsibility" of the war damages suffered by the Allies. The treaty required that Germany pay a huge sum of money called reparations.

Japanese Expansion

In the period before World War II, Japan was growing rapidly. However, as an island nation they did not have the land or the natural resources to sustain their growth. Japan began to look to grow their empire in order to gain new resources. They invaded Manchuria in 1931 and China in 1937.

Fascism

With the economic turmoil left behind by World War 1, some countries were taken over by dictators who formed powerful fascist governments. These dictators wanted to expand their empires and were looking for new lands to conquer. The first fascist government was Italy which was ruled by the dictator Mussolini. Italy invaded and took over Ethiopia in 1935. Adolf Hitler would later emulate Mussolini in his takeover of Germany. Another Fascist government was Spain ruled by the dictator Franco.

These are the only reasons I know. Hope this helps! Stay safe!
