A spiral galaxy consists of a flattened, revolving disk with very fast rotating arms. The most popular type of galaxy is an elliptical galaxy, which has a roundish shape and shows little or no formation of stars. A galaxy with no specified shape that has very young stars is an irregular galaxy.

Explanation:

Since the central bulge looks elongated, like a bar, some spiral galaxies are what we call "barred spirals." ... Like spiral galaxies, they have a bulge and a halo, but they do not have the flat disk of stars. Elliptical stars appear to be older. Irregular galaxies have no shape or structure familiar to them.
