This is false. What happened for the first time was that the number of seats increased, but they still had the majority even before it increased. It happened 3 times since the civil war, and only once to the republicans, while the democrats had that happen twice.

Farming/ slavery.
This answer really depends on what the question is asking, the southern economy banked heavily off of farming, BUT it was impossible to provide and have such an abundance of crops without slavery. So, it depends on the options you have.
Hope this helps, man!

Do you think our language, culture, and day-to-day life might be different if the Spanish had overtaken the Jamestown colony and
timurjin [86]

Answer:

Yes, language and culture would be different, daily life not necessarily so.

Explanation:

If the Spanish had overtaken the Jamestown colony, and had expanded from there to other parts of North America, they would have sent settlers from Spain to promote their language and religion: Spanish and Christian Catholicism, respectively.

The U.S. would still be a Western Nation, but more similar to Latin America than it is right now.

Daily life would not necessarily be that different. The country would have likely industrialized, and then, become a service-based economy, meaning that most people would have more or less the same lifestyle and jobs that they have today.
