  • The Gulf of Tonkin launched America's involvement at the Vietnam war and The resolution was mainly because of two Navy destroyers, U.S.S. Maddox and Turner Joy which took place on August 2 and 4, in 1964.
  • The destroyers were stranded in the Gulf Tonkin, the body of water called as East Vietnam Sea. This sea separates Vietnam from the Chinese Island of Hainan.
  • The resolution stated necessary measures to be taken to drive back to against the United States of America and to protect it from further complications.
  • Finally it declared maintenance of International peace and security in Southern part of east Asia and America and for world peace.
