Use the following scenario to answer the question(s) below. You are a scientist doing research for U.S. Fish and Wildlife on the

effect of fox predators on snowshoe hares. Park rangers have noticed fewer snowshoe hares in areas where foxes are more abundant. You set up two areas in the boreal forest with a fence that will allow the hares to get in but will keep out foxes, and two areas the same size that are marked but not fenced in. You count the number of snowshoe hares surviving after one year. Your study will provide which type of results? Group of answer choices control observational correlation cause-and-effect

Answer:

cause-and-effect

Explanation:

Research shown in the question above will provide results that will allow us to conclude whether a larger number of foxes causes a decrease in the population of snowshoe hares, or whether a decrease in the population of foxes promotes an increase in the population of snowshoe hares. In other words, we can conclude that the experiment will provide cause and effect data, since the number of foxes in an environment (cause) causes effects on the snowshoe hares population.

Carrying capacity relates to a population of organisms in an ecosystem. What do you think the term carrying capacity means? What
ANTONII [103]
Carrying capacity is the maximum amount of organisms a certain ecosystem can sustain with the resources available in a given ecosystem.
Factors that could either increase or decrease the K, carry capacity, would be: drastic weather causing depletion of resources, decreases in competition, etc.

Rob measures the solubility of three different salts in water at 22°C.
Montano1993 [528]
The correct answer to this question is a line graph. If Rob needs to create a graph that is able to display the combination of two different values - in this case, level to which the salt has dissolved and time taken - and he needs to have more than one result included, then a line graph is the way to present this.

You want to test whether duration of light exposure affects fish reproduction. What would be your control group and experimental
Triss [41]

Answer and Explanation:

During an experiment, data from an experimental group are compared with the data of a control group. These two sets are identical in all aspects except for the independent variable that the researcher changes in the experimental group to observe how they affect the individuals. This variable keeps constant in the control group.

The experimental group is the one that receives the experimental procedure, with changes in the independent variable. There can be several experimental groups.

In the control group, the variable measured keeps constant, not influencing the results. This isolates the effect of the independent variable on the experiment and helps to find alternative explanations to the different results.

In the exposed example:

 • Control group: Certain amounts of fishes exposed to a normal number of light hours per day. For example, if under natural conditions in its original environment the species is exposed to 12 hour light, then the control group should be exposed constantly to 12 hours light a day to maintain its normal reproductive levels.
 • Experimental group: Certain amounts of fishes, equal to the control group, exposed to a different number of light hours per day. For example, there might be 5 experimental groups: one of them exposed to 4 hours light, a second group exposed to 8 hours light, the third group exposed to 12 hours light (The same as the control group), the fourth group exposed to 16 hours light, and the fifth group exposed to 20 hours light.

Except for light, the rest of the variables should be the same for all the groups.

An animal ate a plant and digested sugars stored in the plant's leaves. The sugars provided energy
erastova [34]

Answer:

Mitochondria

Explanation: Mitochondria are oblong shaped organelles found in the cytoplasm of all eukaryotic cells. In plant cells, they break down carbohydrate and sugar molecules to provide energy, particularly when light isn't available for the chloroplasts to produce energy.
