Answer:

x=8, y=14; x= senior citizens tickets, y= child tickets

Step-by-step explanation:

38=3x+y

52=3x+2y

move expression and change sign,

-3x+38=y

-3x=y-38

change the signs on both sides of equation

3x=-y+38

substitute

52=-y+38+2y

solve for y

y=14

substitute into the expressions

52=3x+2x14

solve for x, multiply the numbers

52=3x+28

move variables

-3x+52=28

move constant

-3x=28-52

calculate

-3x=-24

x=8

Don't know how to do Cramer's rule, but I hope this helps, at least

34 square feet

Explanation:
Cut the shape into two shapes. The bottom will be a square and the top will be a long rectangle.

The area of the rectangle is 18 square feet
(Multiply 9 x 2)

The area of the square is 16 square feet
(Multiply 4 x4)

It is known that the waiting time for a car to pass by on a country road is exponentially distributed with an average wait time
andrey2020 [161]

Answer:

0.298

Step-by-step explanation:

in this case we have an exponential distribution:

1 - e ^ (- x / y)

where x and y corresponds to the times we find in the exercise.

Now follows memoryless property.

P (More than 23 additional minutes | 20 minutes passed)

P = P (More than 23 minutes)

P = 1 - P (Less than or equal to 23 minutes)

P = 1 - (1 - e ^ (- 23/19))

P = 0.298

Therefore the probability is 29.8%

A store sells cans of paint for $8 each, and brushes for $12 each. If they sell 100 items, and
Montano1993 [528]

Answer:

B.) 80 cans, 20 brushes

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the cans of paint be represented by variable p , and brushes by variable b

The first equation would be ; p + b = 100

p = 100 - b

The second equation would be;

8p + 12b = 880

Replace p in the equation by (100-b);

=8(100-b) + 12b =880

=800 - 8b +12b = 880

= subtract 800 from both sides to get;

4b = 880-800

4b = 80

divide both sides by 4 to solve for b;

b= 80/4

b = 20

If p + b = 100, then p+20 = 100

p = 100-20

p = 80

Therefore, they sold 80 cans of paint and 20 brushes

The volume of a sphere is 2,240 yd^3. What will be the new volume in the dimensions are multiplied by 1/4?
Artyom0805 [142]

Answer:

34.98yd^3

Step-by-step explanation:

Volume of a sphere V=4/3πr3

Where V = 2240yd^3

π = 3.14

2240 = 4/3×3.14×r^3

2240 = 4.1866r^3

r^3 = 2240/4.1866

r^3 = 534.784

r = ( 534.784 )^1/3

r = 8.1169

Since each dimension is to be multiplied by 1/4

Hence, 1/4×8.1169

r = 2.029.

New volume will be

V = 4/3×3.14×2.029^3

V = 4/3×3.14×8.3558

V = 34.98yd^3.
