Mathematics

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

There might be a shorter way of doing this and a better one as well, but here is how I did it.

Let the three numbers be

  • 2n - 2
  • 2n
  • 2n + 2

Solution

Note that these three numbers are consecutive and even.

Twice the smallest number is 2 * (2n - 2)

20 more than the second number is 2n + 20

Now equate them.

2(2n - 2) = 2n + 20                           Remove the brackets.

4n - 4 = 2n + 20                                Add 4 to both sides

4n - 4 + 4 = 2n + 20 + 4

4n = 2n + 24                                       Subtract 2n from both sides.

4n - 2n = 2n - 2n + 24

2n = 24

Now stop

Answers

  • The middle number is 24
  • The smallest number is 24 - 2 = 22
  • The largest number is 24 + 2 = 26

Check

22*2 = 44

The middle number = 24 + 20 = 44

A principal of $835 is invested in an account at 4% per quarter simple interest which of the following sequences describes the d
netineya [11]
To solve the question we use the compound interest formula which is given by:
A=p(1+r)^(nt)
where:
A=future value
p=principle
r=rate
n=number of terms
t=time
thus plugging in the values in the formula we shall have:
A=835(1+0.04)^(4t)
simplifying this we get the sequence:
A=835(1.040)^(4t)
Thus the answer to the sequence will be:
A=835(1.040)^(4t)

The length of a model car is 1/20 of the length of the actual car. If the model. is 8.7 inch long, how long is the actual car? E
madam [21]
This means that if the model is 1 in lengh then th ereal car is 20 times of that or 20 in legnth

so to find the answer, just multiply model by 20
8.7 =model
real=8.7 times 20=174
real car is 174 inches

12 inches=1 foot
conversion factor
1 ft/12in=1=convesion

so
174 times 1/12=14 and 6/12

the answer is 14 feet and 6 inches or 14.5 feet
