History

The conservatives were interested in keeping their wealth and the New Deal would affect them directly as the government was going to tax them more and would implement programs for helping the poor. They also believe business could re-establish from the Great Depression without government regulations and interventions.

So the three main reasons for them to oppose the New Deal are:

The government should balance the budget but keep taxes low.

States should regulate their own affairs.

Businesses should regulate themselves without government oversight.

How was the election of 1912 different from previous presidential elections?
Lina20 [59]
Before the election of 1912, there were actually two major parties that fought the elections. There were also a few small parties in thiose elections that were quiet insignificant. before the 1912 elections, the Republican party split into two parts and one of the section named it the Progressive party. They both carried certain amount of votes. This splitting actually helped the Democrats. Although at that time the Democrats did not have any chance of winning the presidential elections, but the splitting of the Republican Party helped them to win the election of 1912.

What is the point of view of the writer from the southern press review
pickupchik [31]
Assuming that you're referring to the Unsigned Southern Press review of 1852, i think the writer was using first person point of view plural.
In the review, the writer keep using the word 'we' such in : "we doubt Mrs. stowe would recognize the cogency of this argument"

hope this helps
