It could very well be conflict in some cases - but it wouldn't quite fit as well as an unhappy ending!
That wouldn't exactly be the greatest way for his story to unfold and some people would argue that he deserved better, and to have a more pleasant ending. But sadly, a majority of Shakespeare's stories end in tragedy.
