Well for the equation part you can just write the problem using numbers= 4/5 - 1/4

For the draw a picture u can just draw a box and cut it in to 5 pieces and then color 4 of them to represent 4/5. Do the same for 1/4 by drawing and box and separating it into 4 pieces then coloring 1. Then put a minus symbol in between and there you go.

You sell small and large candles at a craft fair. You collect $144 selling a total of 28 candles. How many of each type of candl
myrzilka [38]

Answer:

The number of

Small candles = x = 12 candles

Large candles = y = 16 candles

Step-by-step explanation:

You sell small and large candles at a craft fair. You collect $144 selling a total of 28 candles. How many of each type of candle did you sell? A photo shows a small candle labeled 4 dollars each and a large candle labeled 6 dollars each.

Let the number of

Small candles = x

Large candles = y

Our system of equations is:

x + y = 28 .......... Equation 1

x = 28 - y

A photo shows a small candle labeled 4 dollars each and a large candle labeled 6 dollars each.

4x + 6y = 144......... Equation 2

Substitute 28 - y for x in Equation 2

4(28 - y) + 6y = 144

112 - 4y + 6y = 144

- 4y + 6y = 144 - 112

2y = 32

y = 32/2

y = 16 candles

x = 28 - y

x = 28 - 16

x = 12 candles

Therefore:

The number of

Small candles = x = 12 candles

Large candles = y = 16 candles

Step-by-step explanation:

Okay, so. He had 403.75. He gives 215.50 to Mia. So, we would subtract it.

The sum of two numbers is 67 and the difference is 13 . What are the numbers? PLEASE HELP IM NEW TO THIS AND WANT MY GRADES TO C
Nikitich [7]

Answer:

The two numbers are 40, and 27.

Explanation:

Since there are only two numbers, with two different aspects, you can just make

a system, and solve.

A sum of two numbers adding up to 67 can be modeled by: x + y = 67.

A difference of those same two numbers being 13 can be modeled by: x – y = 13.

You can add the two equations together to eliminate the y value because the -y and y will cancel out:

x + y = 67.

+ x – y = 13.

And you get: 2x = 80.

Now to find x, just divide by 2 on both sides to cancel out the coefficient of 2 in 2x:

2x = 80

÷2 ÷2

x = 40.

So the first number is 40.

Since we know the first number, we can immediately find the other number by substituting it into the first equation.

x = 40 → x + y = 67

(40) + y = 67

-40. -40

Subtract from both sides to cancel the constant terms.

Then you will get that y or the second number is y = 27.

This is true because 40 + 27 = 67, and 40 - 27 = 13.
