IN order to find the percentage of the applicants accepted by the school, we have to convert the denominator as 100 using equivalent fractions concept.

After converting the denominator as 100, what we get in numerator is the percentage of applicants accepted by the school.

Now in our case we are given 4/5 of the applicants are accepted by the school.

So let us find its equivalent fraction with denominator 100.

We have 5 in denominator, so we would multiply it with 20 to get 100.

We will also multiply numerator with 20, to make an equivalent fraction.

So we have,

\frac{4*20}{5*20}

Which is equal to 80/100.

NUmerator is 80.

So 80 percent of application are accepted by the school.

5×20 is 100. Then 4×20 is 80. You get 80/100, so it is equal to 80%.

Determine which of the lines, I any, are parallel or perpendicular. Explain.
TiliK225 [7]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

 1. line b is perpendicular to the other two, which are parallel

 2. line a is perpendicular to the other two, which are parallel

Step-by-step explanation:

1. The differences between coordinates (∆x, ∆y) are ...

 (-2, 3) -(1, -1) = (-3, 4) . . . line a

 (-3, 1) -(1, 4) = (-4, -3) . . . line b

 (0, 2) -(3, -2) = (-3, 4) . . . line c

When the (∆x, ∆y) values are identical, the lines are parallel. If the values are swapped, and one differs in sign, the lines are perpendicular.

 line b is perpendicular to lines a and b, which are parallel

__

2. When all of the equations are written in standard form, they are ...

 • 4x +y = 7 . . . line a
 • x -4y = 2 . . . line b
 • x -4y = 3 . . . line c

As above, when the x- and y-coefficients are identical, the lines are parallel. If they are swapped and one is negated, the lines are perpendicular.

 line a is perpendicular to lines b and c, which are parallel

__

In the attached graph, the lines of part 1 are blue; those of part 2 are red.

trapecia [35]

Answer:

64ft

Step-by-step explanation:

d = distance from the Earth/ft

t = time falling/s

d ∝ t²

d = kt²

d = 16 and t = 4:

16 = k(4)²

16 = 16k

k = ¹⁶/₁₆

k = 1

d = t²

t = 8:

d = (8)²
