Jean-jacques rousseau supported ethical subjectivism because he believed that people?
BaLLatris [955]

Jean-Jacques Rousseau supported ethical subjectivism because he believed that people are basically good and will do the right thing if not corrupted by society.

The simple moral theory, called the "weakest", is ethical subjectivism. It is the theory that morality is created or related to the individual. This theory suggests that there is no universal "moral truth". There are only "personal opinions and preferences".

The supporter of this theory is the Swiss philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau. In Emile, Rousseau describes how ethical subjectivism influences its hypothetical subject. Rousseau believes in this theory because he believes that human nature is good and free. He believes that our initial instincts and personal thoughts are good, but that they corrupt when we are exposed to society. He believes that through the laws of nature we gain the power and education to depend on ourselves. Rousseau believes that we should act according to the laws of the mind.
