Noh dramas were important to the Japanese culture in the way that Noh dramas diffuse Japanese traditions and cultural practices.

Noh drama constitutes the oldest sort of Japanese theater which still survives. It is a mix of music, dance, and acting to convey Buddhist themes. Generally the plot of a Noh play recreates famous scenes from well-known works of Japanese literature including The Tale of Genji or The Tale of the Heike. The typical Noh play is not a dramatic reenactment of an event but its retelling.

Noh means talent and skill in Japanese.
