3 times the measure of an angle is 14 less than the measure of its complement. What is the measure of the angle?
Sedbober [7]
Let the measure of the angle be x and from that the measure of its complement is 90 - x. The equation that best represent the given condition above is,
                            3x = (90 - x) - 14
The value of x from the equation above is 19. Thus, the answer is letter A.

3. A recipe calls for 2 cups of sugar to make 2 dozen cookies. Use the proportion to calculate how much sugar is needed to make
vova2212 [387]

Answer:

c. 6 cups

Step-by-step explanation:

The proportion is 1 cup of sugar for 1 dozen cookies (1/1). So if you multiply the denominator by 6 you must multiply the numerator by 6, and 6*1=6. Therefore you need 6 cups of sugar to make 6 dozen cookies.

A store owner is stocking shelves.he places 37 eight-ounce packages of cheese on a shelf then he puts 24 ounce cheese on the sam
dangina [55]
There are 37 eight ounce of cheese.
37 times 8 =  296 ounces of cheese.
There are 16 ounces in a pound, so divide.
296/16 = 18.5 pounds on the shelf.

Then he places 24 ounce of cheese on the shelf. Divide that by 16.
24/16 = 1.5 pounds.

Add the pounds together-
18.5 + 1.5 = 20 pounds (lbs)

What is the solution of the simultaneous equations 3x 2y 14 and 4x 3y 13?.
lara31 [8.8K]

The solution of simultaneous equations is x=4 and y = -1.

What are Simultaneous equations?

Simultaneous equations are two or more algebraic equations with the same unknown variables and the same value of the variables satisfies all such equations.

We can solve simultaneous equations by various methods. here we will solve it by elimination method.

Here we have two simultaneous equations

      3x -2y = 14 --- (i)

and 4x + 3y = 13---(ii)

Now multiplying (i) by 3 and (ii) by 2 we get

9x -6y = 42 and 8x + 6y = 26.

Now adding both we get

17x = 68 ⇒ x = 68/17 ⇒ x = 4.

Substituting the value of x in (i), we get

3*4 - 2y = 14 ⇒ -2y = 14-12 = 2 = -2/2 ⇒ y = -1.

Therefore, the values of x and y are 4 and -1 respectively .
