One theme from A decade is forbidden influences and censorship which would appeal to high school students.

Explanation:

In the story, Zhu Wenli is caught signing an Uigar folk song and the narrator tried to learn to sing that song secretly by herself. Zhu became nervous since during the cultural revolution anything related to non revolutionary music was forbidden. Any violations were punished rigorously.

In the present day time, students face interesting but dangerous world of possible forbidden influences. Teachers, educators, parents have to do their best to nurture their children while guarding them against dangers lurking in the online world.

Answer:

See below

Explanation:

I think that the theme of censorship would most appeal to high school students. This is because high school students often complain of their family having too many rules. After reading the story, they will realize that the rules imposed were much tougher and carried much worse punishments. I think that indirectly the story will teach children that parents' rules are not brutal, the rules China imposed in the story are.
