Jesus intercedes for people in Heaven to save them and ensure their place in Heaven. Just because he died doesn't mean that he stopped taking care of people. According to the bible, he's now in heaven and is protecting any new soul that might come there.

While Haig sought a significant increase in military assistance to El Salvador, Congress made certification of progress on human rights a quid pro quo. The two branches of government clashed regularly over assistance and certification.
