The first European settlers in South Africa were tge Dutch who, on 6th April 1652, arrieved under the leasership of Jan Van Riebeeck and established a garrisoned trading station at Table Bay. That was the original European settlement in south Africa that started with 90 people who arrived on 3 ships. In 1657 nine another Dutch settlement was established in the Liesbeeck Valley.
