Explanation:

Indentured servants were workers who signed a contract which bound them to work for an employee for a fixed time of year. In exchange, the employer transports the servants to different colonies.

After serving the fixed time the workers were granted their freedom. Nowadays that system of work has been baned from almost every country in the world.
