The Mexican Cession added to the United States is a new territory that contributed to the formation of seven new states.

Further Explanation :

Following the Mexico American War, the United States and Mexico admitted to the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. The agreement supported the United States profoundly, as they obtained the Mexican-American War.

The Mexican Cession is the area in the modern-day southwestern United States which was ceded by Mexico to the U.S. in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in the year 1848 after the Mexico American War. This area was not the portion of the territories in the east of the Rio Grande which had been petitioned by the Republic of Texas, however, the Texas expansion commitment two years, in the beginning, had not designated the southern and western border of the newly formed state of Texas. The Mexican Cession was the third-largest purchase of region in US history.

The final aim of this battle was to obtain land from Mexico, which they succeeded. The Mexican Cession happened in the United States succeeding particular thousand squared miles of territories. This would happen in the conception of nations like California, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, etc.

The correct answer is D. new territory that contributed to the formation of seven new states.

After the Mexican-American War, the US and Mexico agreed to the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. This treaty favored the United States heavily, as they won the Mexican-American War. The ultimate goal of this war was to gain land from Mexico, which they accomplished. The Mexican Cession resulted in the United States gaining several thousand square miles of territories. This would result in the creation of states like California, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, etc.
