In the Most Dangerous Game, explain how Sanger Rains ford's epiphany is caused by the external conflict.

English

The external conflict is between Rainsford and General Zaroff. This conflict is most clear when Zaroff is hunting Rainsford. Rainsford, in order to live, must outwit Zaroff. This is obviously a conflict. There was also a lesser conflict as Rainsford resisted Zaroff's efforts to get him to be a hunter.

The internal conflict is within Rainsford as he is being hunted. He is having to fight with himself to keep himself from despairing and giving up. His situation seems hopeless and so it is hard for him to keep fighting for his life.

Anastasy [175]

Answer:

E). The Merchant Tailors' School did not reduce its fees for the children of the more affluent Guild members.

Explanation:

As per the question, option E displays the assumption 'the Merchant Tailors' School did not reduce its fees for the children of the more affluent Guild members' on which the argument lies as it is rightly assumed by logic. This assumption clearly justifies the conclusion 'lesser affluent families receiving a fee reduction' aptly. The other options fail to validate the conclusion as it offers an illogical yet inappropriate claim. Therefore, option E is the correct answer as it reasonably justifies the claim/argument.

Xelga [282]

Answer: C. I look forward to working with a woman doctor soon.

Bias refers to an unfair prejudice a person has towards a particular group, person or thing. In this sentence, the author is showing a gender bias, as he prefers to work with women than with men. Whether that is a "positive" stereotype (women are more capable, they work harder, etc.) or a negative one (women are more attractive, easier to control, etc.), it gives an unfair advantage to one gender over the other one with no fair justification. Therefore, it is to be discouraged in the workplace.
