My family took a trip last month to see the towns of Lexington and Concord. The towns were really interesting once I could visua

lize the battle. Students my age would be lucky to see important sites like these.
What would be the effect of changing the second sentence to “Once I could visualize the battle, the towns were really interesting”?

The different structure would change the meaning of the sentence.
The different structure would provide a missing connection to the previous sentence.
The different structure would provide variety for the reader.
The different structure would emphasize the battle more.

....I ignored them and climbed the back fence to see my best friend, Scott a second-generation okie. What is the meaning of the
Dmitrij [34]

Answer:

Someone who is from the West and whose parents are from the West.

Explanation:

In Gary Sato's <em>Like Mexicans</em>, he tells the story of how his parents and family want him to marry a girl from his own race and ethnicity. They seemed to emphasize the importance of marrying within the same 'race', which he also tries hard to obey as far as he can.

In the given passage, Gary mentioned his best friend Scott as <em>"a second-generation okie"</em>. And like he mentioned in the beginning of the story, and according to his grandmother, <em>"everyone who wasn't Mexican, black or Asian were Okies"</em>. So, though Okie is a term generally used to refer to a resident of Oklahoma or a native of that place, Sato used this term as a generalized term for anyone from the West and whose parents are from the West.

Which two parts of this excerpt from Queen Elizabeth I's "Speech to the Troops at Tilbury" illustrate that the speech is a persu
zysi [14]

Answer:

  • Let tyrants fear, I have always so behaved myself that, under God, I have placed my chiefest strength and safeguard in the loyal hearts and good-will of my subjects; and therefore I am come amongst you, as you see, at this time, not for my recreation and disport, but being resolved, in the midst and heat of the battle, to live and die amongst you all; to lay down for my God, and for my kingdom, and my people, my honour and my blood, even in the dust.
  • I know I have the body but of a weak and feeble woman; but I have the heart and stomach of a king, and of a king of England too, and think foul scorn that Parma or Spain, or any prince of Europe, should dare to invade the borders of my realm; to which rather than any dishonour shall grow by me, I myself will take up arms, I myself will be your general, judge, and rewarder of every one of your virtues in the field.

Explanation:

These are the two parts that show that the speech is meant to be a persuasive text. In the first section, Queen Elizabeth tells the troops that she is ready to die among them, and that she has come to them to show them how seriously she takes this responsibility. In the second section, the Queen talks about her qualifications, stating that she has the heart and stomach of a king. Both sections are meant to be persuasive.
