re the Supreme Court, that court was of opinion that the law under which the prosecution had was constitutional, and denied the relief prayed for by the petitioner. Ex parte Plessy, 45 La.Ann. 80. Whereupon petitioner prayed for a writ of error from this court, which was allowed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Louisiana. MR. JUSTICE BROWN, after stating the case, delivered the opinion of the court. This case turns upon the constitutionality of an act of the General Assembly of the State of Louisiana, passed in 1890, providing for separate railway carriages for the white and colored races. Acts 1890, No. 111, p. 152. The first section of the statute enacts "that all railway companies carrying passengers in their coaches in this State shall provide equal but separate accommodations for the white and colored races by providing two or more passenger coaches for each passenger train, or by dividing the passenger coaches by a partition so as to secure separate accommodations: Provided, That this section shall not be construed to apply to street railroads. In the Plessy v. Ferguson case, the Supreme Court's ruling of the "separate but equal" law being constitutional was problematic because the "separate but equal" law accepted segregation and the discrimination that were against blacks.

Hope this helps!

What is the purpose of literary analysis?
padilas [110]

Answer:

to suggest and support an interpretation of literature

Explanation:

to suggest and support an interpretation of literature – this is the correct answer. The literal analysis is careful reading and interpretation of the written piece. The analysis should examine carefully characters, settings, atmosphere, imagery, and plot. The full and scientific analysis should explore the meaning and the ideas behind the written piece, and use the literary theory that fits the work.

to summarize a work of literature in great detail – this is not the correct answer. Literary analysis is not just a summary of the piece.

to evaluate how well a work of literature is written – this is not the right answer. The analysis doesn’t grade up the quality of the piece.

to suggest how a work of literature should be revised – this is not the correct answer. Review or edit are the ones that suggest the revisions.

Difference between restrictive phrase and restrictive clause
lora16 [44]
The difference between a restrictive phrase and a restrictive clause can be determined if you break down the parts of speech. It is a clause if there is a subject and verb with a predicate. It is a phrase if there is a noun but no verb or a verb but no noun, and it does not have a predicate.

Can someone please edit this one paragraph that got a grade of 1 get a grade of 2????
Nikitich [7]

Answer:

Ghandi’s non-violent personality is a rhetorical device all unto itself. It makes him look beyond approachable to the beneficiary of the report. One example starts on line 64. Ghandi states, “If you think that there is any substance in my letter, and if you will care to discuss matters with me, and if to that end you would like me to postpone publication of this letter, I shall gladly refrain on receipt of a telegram to that effect soon after this reaches you.” Ghandhi doesn’t pressurize the British government, he propounds to not publish the letter so that they can sit down and have a decent talk. On top of that, he has it hand-delivered by an English companion. He is definitely far more inviting than the Americans were in their Declaration of Independence.
